About me

Poto Williams was a rough sleeper for the LIFEWISE Big Sleep out last year and valued the experience so much, decided to do it again this year and push for a more “real” approach, so is excited to be challenged by being outdoors in winter.

As the Chief Executive of a Family Violence service, she knows how people come to be homeless through wanted to escape the horror of the violence they experience in the home. She is also a board member of the Waitakere Community Law Centre which has a strong focus on the access to justice for all.

Poto is of Cook Island descent and has connections to the Islands of Manihiki and Palmerston in the Cooks. She has been working in the community for more than 15 years and is proud of the teams and organisations she has worked with, who are the backbone of change and innovation in our communities.

She is the extremely proud mother of one fantastic daughter, Terai.

Why am I doing the LIFEWISE Big Sleepout?

I want to raise awareness of homelessness and how it touches many of us.
