Prince Devanandan

About me

I was ordained a priest in 1988 in the Anglican Diocese of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Since 2003 I have been working for the Methodist Church of New Zealand (Te Hahi Weteriana o Aotearoa). I have also served as a member of the Board of Governors of the Methodist Mission Northern since 2006, and on the Governing Board of Lifewise since its foundation.

I am also on the Board of Manukau Asian Forum and a member of the Friendship House Trust Board in Manukau.

My interests are community development, poverty alleviation, ministry to refugees and migrants in their resettlement, ecumenism, inter-church relationship and inter-faith dialogue.

I completed a Masters of Philosophy from Auckland University of Technology in 2008. My thesis titled ‘Mission as Good Neighbour – Social Policy of the Methodist Mission Northern in the 21st Century’ involved research into ministry to homeless people in Whangarei, Auckland and Hamilton.

I am married to Ramani and blessed with two daughters aged 20 and 16.

Why am I doing the LIFEWISE Big Sleepout?

I'm committed to the mission of Lifewise in its work with people in this city.
