Rob Thomas

About me

Rob was elected onto the Waitemata Local Board in October 2010 (the local board for Auckland’s inner-city communities). Rob has been involved in local government for over 10 years. He started off as the chairperson of the Auckland Youth Council and then working for Auckland City, Wellington City and the City of Westminster in London. He has held varies positions within these organisations from transport and corporate planning to monitoring children at risk.

Rob has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Auckland, he is a Trustee on the Motutapu Restoration Trust and a member of Auckland Rotary.

One of Rob’s favourite quotes is by Robert Frost 'Two roads diverged in a wood, and I - I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.' It reminds him about the choices we all make and how these choices can affect you and those around you.

Why am I doing the LIFEWISE Big Sleepout?

I want to learn more about homelessness and to meet like-minded people.
